Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gia Marakas is a classically trained, certified Pilates instructor. At four years old, Gia began her path of movement with ballet, modern dance, and jazz (and her parents’ much-played eight-track of “The Hustle”). While continuing her study of dance, Gia earned a BA from Loyola Marymount University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. An injury in her twenties led Gia to Pilates; after several sessions, she was hooked on the method’s healing combination of strength, flexibility, and alignment.
Fifteen years later, Gia uses her Pilates knowledge and skills to help a wide client base – from students to celebrities, athletes to retirees – find a new range of motion. Her abilities, patience, and humor keep her with a dedicated roster of clients, motivating them toward health and fitness goals. Periodicals and websites including The Larchmont Chronicle, I Want Her Job, Her Campus, and Shop Eat Sleep have featured profiles on Gia, and the Kiva Connection included her on a segment concerning physical health.
